To achieve this, we reversed the development process in the Lexus IS by "building the car first and experiencing the results", and then developed the individual elements required to realize the driving pleasure and breakthrough performance we were after.



EMV Touch Display

An interface designed in the Lexus IS for simple, smartphone-style operation lets users interact intuitively with the navigation and audio systems on the 10.3-inch EMV or 8-inch touch display. Integrated into the center console, it provides easy control of the systems without disturbing the driving posture and line of sight.



A Stable Performance

The sophisticated 3.5-liter engine delivers both exceptional power and excellent fuel efficiency in the Lexus IS. It integrates advanced technologies that include a D-4S fuel injection system that features both direct injection into the cylinders and port injection to balance high power output with fuel efficiency, and Dual VVT-i which increases torque and output, and contributes to better fuel economy and reduced emissions.

Eight SRS Airbags

The Lexus IS features eight sensor-controlled SRS airbags together with pretensioners and force limiters of the front seatbelts. The front occupants are protected by dual-stage SRS driver airbag, dual-stage SRS front passenger airbag, SRS knee airbags, and SRS side airbags. SRS curtain shield airbags cover the front and rear door windows.

Disc Brakes

High performance ventilated disc brakes on all four wheels provide the quick smooth and linear braking expected of the Lexus IS. High friction brake pads further contribute to the excellent stopping power and braking feel. The use of lightweight aluminum for brake components helps to reduce weight, contributing to fuel efficiency.
